NEXT LIVE WORKSHOP | THURSDAY 25 JUNE | 9AM AEST

BIG FEELINGS AREN’T JUST FOR TODDLERS.

Every parenting workshop teaches you about your child's brain. This one is about yours too - because there are two nervous systems in every meltdown, and yours is the one running on broken sleep, mental load, and your own unfinished business.

That's why "just stay calm" doesn't work. That's why you can recite the scripts in your head at 10am and still snap at 5pm.

Big Feelings (Yours & Theirs) is a 60-minute live workshop for parents of 2–5 year olds who are tired of blowing up alongside their kiddos — and ready to understand what's actually happening in both brains in the room.

$59 AUD

Free for Coming Home members

You've read the gentle parenting posts. You've tried the scripts. You know you're meant to validate, stay calm, hold the boundary…

And sometimes it works. But other times — fifteen minutes into a meltdown over a broken banana — the calm, patient version of you has left the building.

You snap. Or go quiet. Or give in just to make it stop.

Then comes the spiral: I'm not gentle enough. I'm too soft. I'm too harsh. Am I actually ruining him? Why can other mums seem to stay calm? What is wrong with me?

The problem isn't that you're not "gentle enough" or "firm enough." The problem is that every parenting style hands you a fresh rulebook to fall short of. Another label to measure yourself against at 2am when nothing is working.

You don't need to perfect a parenting style. You need to understand what's happening in their brain and yours — so you can stop second-guessing yourself in the hard moments and start trusting yourself inside them.

WHAT YOU’LL WALK AWAY WITH:

Why you lose it — and why it's not a character flaw. You'll finally understand what's happening in your body before you snap, why the feelings hardest to handle in your child are so often the ones that weren't allowed for you, and how to catch yourself before the basement's on fire — instead of apologising after.

The end of "why won't they just listen?" You'll see what's actually going on inside your child's brain mid-meltdown — why logic, counting, and "use your words" can't work in that moment, and what their behaviour is really trying to tell you. Once you see it, you can't unsee it, and you stop taking it personally.

What's reasonable to expect — and what isn't (yet). So much frustration comes from expecting a level of patience, sharing, or self-control their brain simply hasn't built yet. You'll learn what's developmentally fair to ask of the kid in front of you, so you can stop fighting battles that were never winnable.

Four words that work on any meltdown, any kid. Instead of a script to memorise, you'll leave with a way of seeing — that tells you what your child needs in the moment, and what to do next. It works at 2, it works at 12, it works in the supermarket.

How to be kind AND in charge. The middle path between too-soft and too-scary. You'll learn how to hold a boundary and the feeling at the same time — so you can stop swinging between giving in and going off, and start feeling like the sturdy leader your child is actually looking for.

What to do when you lose it anyway. Because you will — we all do. You'll learn how to repair in a way that doesn't just patch things up but actually makes your child more secure than if it had never happened. This one takes the 2am guilt off the table for good.

Plus — a live Q&A, so you can bring your specific kid and your hardest moment to the room and walk out with an answer.

THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR YOU, IF:

Your kid's meltdowns leave you shaky, snappy, or stewing for hours after they've already moved on

  • You've read the books and saved the scripts and still feel like you're winging it

  • You're sick of being told to "just stay calm" with no one explaining how

  • You want to be kind and in charge — without tipping into too-soft or too-scary

  • You're starting to suspect the work isn't about fixing your child. It's about understanding both of you.

HEY, I’M FIONA.

I'm a social worker, a perinatal and infant mental health professional, a motherhood studies practitioner — and a mum of three (including a two-year-old with very big feelings, so I'm right in it with you).

I've spent years working in child development, behaviour and attachment, and everything I teach starts in the same place: with you. Not because you're the problem — because you're the part everyone else forgot to mention.

I'm a fierce advocate for both mother and child — passionate about honouring you both, instead of asking you to choose between staying connected to them and staying sane yourself.
