Psychology & Counselling Support

Mama Matters in-house mental health team is here to support you.

WHO IS HOLDING YOU MAMA?

Mums do a lot of holding in motherhood (barnacle baby, anyone?), You deserve to be held too.

Motherhood is no easy transition and such a shift deserves the same level of support.

EVERY MAMA DESERVES A COMPASSIONATE, NON-JUDGEMENTAL SPACE TO HONOUR THE HUGE IMPACT OF MOTHERHOOD.

Meet Samantha.

Samantha is passionate about supporting women in pregnancy, postpartum and throughout the early years of their children's life.

As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker she has additional knowledge and training in infant and parent mental health and attachment, and early intervention parenting support.

She's also a Circle of Security facilitator, to boot; and her gentle, compassionate approach will provide you with the warm, comfortable therapeutic space all mothers deserve.

  • A 60 minute session with Samantha is $170 and with a Mental Health Care Plan, you will get a Medicare rebate of $79.05 making your out of pocket cost $90.95.

Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSWs) are recognised providers with Medicare Australia and other programs (including BUPA). They have received accreditation to deliver mental health services utilising a range of evidence-based strategies. AMHSWs are highly trained and educated professionals, meeting some of the highest standards of professional regulation in Australia.

Like registered psychologists, AMHSW’s hold professional registration and provide evidence-based therapy, the main difference between the two being that AMHSW’s do not provide psychological testing.

Like seeing a psychologist, seeing an AMHSW is medicare rebated by accessing a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP (by seeing your GP face-to-face or via a phone or Telehealth appointment).

With a Mental Health Care Plan, you can access 10 Medicare rebated sessions per calendar year, with the above mentioned rebate per session

Meet Rebekah.

Rebekah is also a Circle of Security Parenting facilitator and Marte Meo practitioner (often dubbed the ‘how to’ of Circle of Security). She offers a warm, curious, and compassionate space that is free of judgment; where women and their families are listened to, and therapeutically held.

Meet Helena.

Helena is a seasoned Mental Health Social Worker with a zest for early intervention. Her approach is rooted in an attachment-based perspective, seamlessly integrating therapeutic modalities like ACT, CBT, DBT, and soon, EMDR, to offer holistic support. She’s also a certified Circle of Security Program Facilitator (yay!).

A country Queensland girl at heart, Helena is also a mother to two young boys. And a little tidbit for potential clients: if your downtime involves coffee, cake, and perhaps Anne of Green Gables juxtaposed with True Crime podcasts, you and Helena could be an excellent therapeutic fit.

  • Fees

An initial session with Helena is 75 minutes at $200 and subsequent sessions are 60 minutes at $170.

Payments are to be made on the day of your session via Stripe.
